Hailing from Annapolis, Maryland, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack broke out with their infectious blend of funk, punk, and alternative rock—scoring national hits with tracks like “High” and “Do Right.” After signing with Elton John’s Rocket Records in the mid-90s, they dropped the major-label albums Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope and Bring Your Own Stereo—both packed with genre-bending riffs, biting lyrics, and a vibe that was always just a little left of center.
